Get out your check books

Actually, no need to even do that thanks to the scam known as withholding.

Check it out America: Obama is looking at raising your taxes to pay for the “explosion” in the budget deficit. Let’s be honest. To pay for all the bailouts, “Cash for Clunkers” money and health care reform your taxes will have to go up.  There is simply no other source of revenue for the government that is as easy to tap and as easy to increase as the income tax.  And Obama’s administration is not just taxing the rich.  No sir.  He’s going to hit middle class America with tax increases.  That’s you and that’s me.

The bottom line is that Obama has taken full advantage of a Democratic Congress and spineless Republican leadership to move America even closer to socialism.  He’s done it by spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave in Thailand.  The good news is that now middle-class America will finally take its head out of its ass and realize that when Democrats will take only the rich, they are talking about middle-class America.  The bad news is that it may be too late to stop what is already in motion.  Let this be a lesson to you America.  Pay attention to what your government is doing.

(Side note: I think my favorite line in the article is this one “If we want an economy that’s going to grow in the future, people have to understand we have to bring those deficits down. And it’s going to be difficult, hard for us to do. And the path to that is through health care reform,” Geithner said.  How does SPENDING BILLIONS on health care reform bring down a deficit?  It doesn’t!!!!  This is probably the worst attempt at working the party line into an answer in the history of politics.  It’s hard to believe that Geithner is the best person to head up the Treasury if he doesn’t understand simple economic concepts.  Spending creates deficits; it doesn’t bring them down.  I totally agree that deficits need to be eliminated for the economy to achieve robust growth.  But I disagree with the idea that spending outrageous amounts of money to make health care worse is the way to do it.)

A joke? Not hardly. I wish that it was. Unfortunately, today the President will be hosting a “Concilliatory Happy Hour” for his buddy the professor of “African American Studies” and the Policeman involved in his arrest. Now, I have a couple BIG problems with this:
1. Since when does the president have any reason to get involved in the purview of a local Massachusetts police matter?
2. Why is the president elevating the complaint of this loud-mouth liberal professor to the level of legitimacy by inviting him to the White house to bury the hatchet with the arresting officer?
3. Why is ANYBODY taking the charge of racism seriously when all the evidence that has been presented points to an officer who was doing his duty according to the information that he was given?
4. Why does a citizen (who is being served by his local police jurisdiction in the protection of his property and safety) belligerently refuse to show ID that proves he is the owner of the house in question?

This whole episode is a prime example of the LACK of presidential restraint that is living in the White House these days. The president decides to chime in after having JUST said “I don’t have all the facts but… the police acted stupidly.” WHAT??
How about, ” I don’t have all the facts, and I believe that this is a matter best left to the police jurisdiction involved.”
or perhaps “I don’t feel that a local police matter falls into the purview of the President of the United States.”

Oh well.  I guess that would have taken some knowledge of the ACTUAL duties of the office and an ability to NOT take advantage of a news item to boost your flagging poll numbers.  So that will not be happening any time soon.

Is anyone surprised?

Well, now that the house and senate have signed away our future (since we HAD to take care of this immediately)PresBo has decided to go on a vacation.

Uh, wait.  I thought this had to happen right away

I wonder how many peope have lost their jobs over the weekend… if this is supposed to immediately help the economy, couldn’t the president have waited one more week to go on vacation?  The stink of this is that the bill only needed to get out of congress in a hurry.  If it hasn’t been passed, we can still do something about it…  Now that the only thing between it and us is one socialist and a pen (probably a bunch of pens actually) it doesn’t matter how long he takes.  Sickening.  This bill is a lie to the core, and it is being signed into law by a man who KNOWS that it won’t do anything real for the economy.  By the way, the bill will almost DOUBLE the current national debt and is larger by itself than the GDP of the WHOLE WORLD.  Are you getting this?  If every good or service produced by the whole world in one year were sold to pay down this debt we would still fall short.  Congratulations, America.  We are now nationally bankrupt.  Hope all you Obama fans know how to grow your own vegetables, because in five years time they’re gonna be so expensive that only the ‘evil rich’ can afford them.  To whom are you going to whine then?  Once more, history repeats itself.  Down we go into national poverty, global irrelevance and eventually, tyranny.  Wish I could be happier about it, but facts are facts.  Enjoy the long ride down, and do your family a favor, teach them how to take care of themselves.  Their own  goverment has shown that it doesn’t care about them anyway.

Presto, You’re Dead.

Much like a corpse in the summer sun, the Barack Obama “Stimulus Bill” is starting to smell more and more rotten as it sits in the light of the day.  All last week and the beginning of this one, it was impressed upon us by PresBO that this bill must be passed NOW! If we don’t, the world will collapse.  Horsecrap as usual from a democrat mouth.  Now we are beginning to find out why…

Turns out that the longer this bill is exposed to the American public, the more socialist garbage we find stuffed inside.  Now it is being reported that there is to be a federal system to oversee your doctor and to “guide” him or her how to best treat you.  Uh, last I checked, my representative IS a doctor and voted no on this bill.

A quote taken from Bloomberg news article dated Feb 9th by Betsy McCaughey:

…National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”…

I am imagining a system whereby some mid-level, minimally qualified govermnment union worker sits at a desk in an overpriced building under the buzz of the sterile, mind-numbing energy saving light bulbs with a big manual of spreadsheets.  It will be his or her job to look at what you have had done recently, how old you are and then look across the spreadsheet to the corresponding “no” column.  THAT will be your doctor’s guidance.  Knee replacement?  Hell no, you’re 65.  That would be a waste of money.  What?  You want treatment for your emphesema?  But you’re 80.  You’ll be dead in 5 years anyway.  We’re gonna save the money for the indigent mothers of 6 that want to have 8 more kids.  They’re the ones that REALLY need it anyway, right?

I don’t think that there is anyone with one ounce of sense in their head that actually believes that this will improve the healthcare system of this nation.  The driving force is power people.  If you own someone’s healthcare, you own the person.  Now I’m not going to go as far as to say that people could or would be deprived medical attention based on their politcal views (although it’s a thought provoking scenario for a short story) but imagine the campaign slogans for years to come:  Democrats- Protecting your free health care since 2009!  … or perhaps… Vote Republican and your personal health care costs will skyrocket!

Are you getting the picture now?  They’ve been doing this for years with Medicare and Medicaid!  Now look at what has happened to the geriatric voting block… sorry, old folks.  We got what we want, now we’re throwing you to the wolves.  You don’t need all the healthcare you’re getting because you’re old and you’ll be dead soon anyway.  Just deal with it.

You have been betrayed.  Next up, the rest of us.  Starting with the stupid.  Oh, wait.  That’s already happened.  They thought that they were going to get their mortgages paid and their cars filled with gas because they voted Obama.  Well, ‘Change’ is here and ‘Change’ couldn’t care less about you idiots.  Go watch American Idol.  We’ll contact you when we need your votes again.  You’ll have forgotten about this by then anyway…

Ask yourself why this was stuck in the middle of a ‘stimulus bill’ that is 700+ pages long.  Why not shout this from the rooftops?  Isn’t this a democrat Utopian idea?  This is a platform issue for them!  Really, if this is so popular, it should be a stand-alone signature item for PresBO.

If this bill passes, health care is going to suffer horrendously and they know it. You had better call your congressmen and senators to ask why they aren’t crucifying this bill openly on every tv channel and the floor of the house and  senate.  This is a covert government power grab and it is a LIE.  Stand up and fight it or suffer the tyranny.

You have your orders.

Something To Be Proud Of

During the lengthy time between my posts, I have found some things in our country to be proud of and I thought I’d share them with you.

I should start off by saying that I have been adamantly against any sort of taxpayer bailout of the big 3 American auto makers.  That being said, Ford made me very proud today.  Instead of seeking aid from the government (and by extension, Joe Taxpayer), they have made some tough cuts in their expenses and tapped into available credit lines in order to dig in for the rough times in 2009. I applaud Ford for going against the grain and NOT taking our money to keep themselves afloat.  It is not the responsibility of the government or the taxpayer to keep poorly managed companies above water.  Ford has taken the stance that they are going to take the consequences that come with the sub-par management decisions they’ve made in the past.  I will be keeping my eye on Ford to see if they can turn the ship around or if they end up flushing our money down the toilet like Chrysler and GM.

The other item I’ve found that makes me proud comes from our new President.  For the most part, Obama’s politics don’t align with mine.  But today, I’ve found an issue on which he and I see eye to eye.  Obama issued a critique today of what can only be described as outlandish bonuses for CEO’s on Wall Street in these dire financial times. And I must say that I wholeheartedly agree with him on this.  It is despicable that these Wall Street fat cats needed taxpayer money to keep their companies from ceasing to exist only a few months ago and now they are raking in billions of dollars in bonuses.  The most disgusting piece of it all is that these Gordon Gecko’s of the world are getting billions of dollars in bonuses after RUINING THE COMPANIES THEY LEAD!!!! If you were to perform your job at such a level that it completely ruined your department/unit/whatever, you’d be fired.  These douche bags are getting rich by running companies into the ground then having you and I pay to fix their mistakes.  UNACCEPTABLE.

I really hope that Obama finds a way to combat problems like these in the future.  There is no doubt in my mind that 2009 will bring more taxpayer funded bailouts of companies and there need to be measures in place to prevent these CEO’s from receiving a billion dollar pat on the back for a job poorly done.

Is that a prayer or a pot-induced ramblefest?

The Reverend Joseph Lowery (one of our race-related fixtures here in the ATL) decided to take the opportunity to turn the inaugural prayer today into a bigoted, mocking joke.

‘Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around… when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen’…

Ok. let’s look at this line by line and examine it closely.  First, what happened to all this ‘We are all one people”, kumbaya love that our president spent the previous few minutes establishing??!  black?  brown? yellow?  I thought we were all Americans…  Sounds to me like the good reverend is stuck in the same gear he’s been in since MLK was a man struggling for a cause and not just a holiday.

When was the last time that a black man or woman was asked to sit at the back of a bus?  Can you imagine the hellfire and hatred that would descend on anyone even ACCUSED of asking that in this day and age??   Hey Lowery, open your eyes for a second (mid prayer) and notice that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS A BLACK MAN.  He’s the one standing next to you.  Tall guy, reasonably good looking, surrounded by men in dark glasses with guns.  Ok, now carry on praying….

I can only assume that the ‘brown can stick around’ line is a reference to hispanics.  Isn’t ‘brown-town’ a bigoted slur?  Does ANYONE that wants to be taken seriously call hispanics of any background ‘browns’?  No, they do not.  and the ‘stick around’ bit?  Again, I have to guess, but it sounds like he’s referencing illegal immigrants.

Sure they can stick around… when they get the appropriate legal documentation.  Just like any other color illegal immigrant.

The whole ‘when yellow can be mellow’ thing is lost on me.  What the heck does that mean?  Is he indicating that asians as a rule aren’t ‘mellow’?  Better question:  why the heck is that even important?  This ‘prayer’ is becoming a jive-talking joke.  If I was asian, this rhyming load of garbage would leave me anything but mellow… and still we decend further into the race-dividing madness…

‘when the Red Man can get ahead, man‘… no, he didn’t.  Did he?   Red Man?  He’s GOT to be kidding right?  Obama’s being punked for sure.  Lowery sounds like a stoner! Hmmm… maybe that explains the ‘mellow’ part…  Pardon me, but this is the United States of America.  Anyone who is willing to put in the work can ‘get ahead, man’.  Again, excuse me Reverend.  I hate to interrupt, but take another look to the man who is now the President.  His dad wasn’t part of his life, his grandmother raised him, and he didn’t have a silver spoon in his mouth when he was born.  That doesn’t even take into account the fact that calling Native Americans ‘red-men’ is just degrading…  How many times have tribes protested the Washington Redskins for their name alone?  Oh, by the way, there is a monument of one of these ‘red men’ currently being carved in a mountainside  in south Dakota that is bigger than any monument for a single ‘white guy’ on this continent.  It’s been in the works since the 40′s.  That may not be ‘getting ahead’ but it sure isn’t a bad start… More power to ‘em.

Did Lowery write this prayer for LBJ’s inauguration?  It certainly sounds like he dusted off something that was originally penned in the ’60′s.  And now for the clincher:  ‘and when white will embrace what is right‘  WHAT!!!!!!!????

This is the point when I hit apoplectic RAGE.  How dare you accuse me of ‘not embracing what is right’, you bigoted, shriveled-up race pimp!  This is absolutely outrageous!  In this day and age, when millions of “white” Americans voted for a black man for president, this doddering old fool of a pulpit stool still wants the nation to believe that white folks have yet to embrace what is right??  (For the sake of argument we are assuming that ‘embracing what is right’ means treating black people as total equals).  This man is a smear on the legacy of MLK.  To endure the blatant, blinding hatred that he did; to live to see a black man as PRESIDENT and to still cling to his segregation-induced disdain of white people…  how sad.  This was a day that was to be celebrated throughout America as ‘the day that racism died’… and this old man can’t get past his own bitterness.   I take personal offense at his implication that I, as a white man, have yet to embrace what is right.  Who does he think he is to judge me?  I will go further to say that the good reverend ought to look to the plank in his own eye.

Well, all that to find out that… drum roll please… it WAS penned in the ’60′s!  A good portion of the -ahem- ‘prayer’ was taken from an old protest chant

So, this man Lowery, who was ostensibly brought up on the dais (let’s face it folks-only because MLK was assassinated) to represent the history of racism that is now conquered, puts forth an old protest chant as a relevant prayer.  Sick.  A solemn occasion to give thanks to God Almighty for blessing this nation with a 44th peaceful exchange of power and this idiot plays the race card…AGAIN.  There was no prayer.  God was never even addressed in all honesty.  If I was Barack, I would publicly shun this man.  He obviously will never get past what happened in the past.  He will never allow himself to believe that a white man or woman can look at him and not want to reach for the nearest fire hose.  Lowery needs to shut up for eternity.  He has earned the absolute derision of this nation.

‘…all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. ’…

28th Amendment – The Right to Cable Television

January 13, 2009 by beezer · 1 Comment

I read this the other day and I’m just now getting around to posting it.

I tried to come up with something creative and witty to get my point across, but it’s late and this makes me more furious as I think about it.  So I’ll be short and brutal in getting to my point.

Here’s the gist of the article for those too lazy to read it:  Obama wants to delay to transition from digital cable because the majority of Americans who use analog TVs to receive broadcasting are unprepared for the digital switch.

Folks, this required transition was mandated by Congress in 2005.  That’s 4 years to get your ass in gear.  If 4 years wasn’t enough time – tough.  Turn off the TV and go buy a converter box right now.

And that’s not even the part that pisses me off.  The fact that Obama or any politician wants to help people receive TV broadcasting  by delaying the switch to digital and passing out government (read: THE AMERICAN PEOPLE) funded vouchers is bullshit.

Take a look at the Bill of Rights.  While you’re at it, take a look at all 27 amendments of the Constitution.

Go ahead.  I’ll wait.

Show me the one that guarantees you and I the right to cable television.  You can’t because it’s not there.

So why are we wasting taxpayer money on converter box vouchers so people can watch TV?  Why is the Congress now going to waste our time (and it is OUR TIME since we voted them into office as our voice in government) discussing a potential delay in the digital switch?

The answer is simple.  Americans see television broadcasting as a right and not a luxury.  The Government knows this and will use that fact to further our reliance upon them.  No need for us to make sure that my TV will work after the switch – government will take of me.

Welcome to the death of individualism.

Who’s gonna fix all this?

So our illustrious (soon to be) President decided to unleash the socialist hounds this last week with his ideas on fixing the economy.  He said (and I quote)

“…But at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe.”

Um… No.  That is a lie and he knows it.  In fact, I am willing to wager that he is perfectly aware that the exact opposite is true.  The best fix to this both long and short term is to roll back taxes on businesses and individuals significantly and let the market roar back to its former strength.   The US economy has done amazing things before when allowed to run its course in an unfettered manner.  Look at what happened when Reagan took office after the Carter era… tax cuts across the board and the nation saw a decade of massive capital growth and success… not to mention crushing the oppressive communist regime of Russia at the same time.  You may say you hate capitalism, but even the Ruskies wanted a McDonalds close by.

Having government ‘control’ the manner in which this economy recovers is the absolute last thing that we need.  Why put a governor on the engine of capitalism unless you want to be the one to decide which areas will succeed and which will not?  A dangerous proposition at best…   Remember the axiom:  There is nothing that the government does that private business (or the free market) can’t do better.  Find me an  example of where government has been a boon to the citizenry of this nation OVER the private market in any sector and I’ll eat my keyboard.  I have deli mustard… not that I’ll need it.

Sure, these times are rough.  I ought to know, I got canned because of the housing market.  These are also the times when the American people are at their best.  Our nation is a continuous story of men and women overcoming adversity and trials to cobble together the strongest nation on the planet.  A small example you ask?  Paula Deen.  A single woman with a major clinical personality disorder and two kids to feed started a sack lunch business.  Now she has a wildly successful restaurant in Savannah, multiple TV shows, two successful children that learned hard work and sacrifice first hand and a legion of adoring fans that would pay to watch her melt a stick of butter.  THAT, my friends, is why the free market is amazing.   One part ingenuity, one part determination and the freedom under which innovation thrives…  A recipe for a rising tide of plenty.  One of my favorite quotes comes from a book that I read last year and that I will gladly extend as your first reading assignment from my corner of the H&B universe.  That book is John Adams by David McCullough.  You will learn more about the founding of this nation from the pages of that book than any class you take and all of the high school courses you’ve ever heard of.  The quote is as follows:

“It is not in the still calm of life, or the repose of a pacific station, that great characters are formed. The habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties. Great necessities call out great virtues. When a mind is raised, and animated by scenes that engage the heart, then those qualities which would otherwise lay dormant, wake into life and form the character of the hero and the statesman.”

That quote is taken from a letter between Abigail Adams (The second First Lady) and her son John Quincy.  Now, take out the last three words, replace them with “innovator and success story”  and apply it to your life.  It is the rough times in life that test the mettle of the man (or woman).  Got a passion?  Make it work for you.  Use your God-given talent and ability to make something out of what you have or go find someone that wants what you have and is willing to pay you for it!  Remember, necessity is the mother of invention.  If it is necessary that you feed your family, you will invent a way to make ends meet.  Take a part time job and learn something new in the meantime.  Expand your worth to the world and you will find it a more welcoming place.  Don’t rely on a Union boss to fix your problems.  They WANT you to need them.  Don’t rely on Barack or McCain or any other person in government… they are dependent upon you needing them for their own power.  Be an individual, grow a backbone and go drag home a paycheck.  In other words, be an AMERICAN.  Live up to the great station that is yours and that you are called to by your birthright.

Public Works Project

It’s late, so I’ll try to be brief in voicing my displeasure.

Obama hasn’t even taken oath yet and he’s already got big plans for your money.  He plans to institute a public works project on the scale of the construction of the interstate highway system in the 1950′s.  This is his plan for reviving the economy and creating jobs.

You are probably asking yourself, “Where is he going to get the money to pay for all this?”

Well, there are really on 2 viable options. 1) Raise our taxes. 2) Borrow it.

I think I’ve made my views on the government dipping into my wallet to pay for garbage like this very clear.  So let’s take a look at option 2 – borrowing to pay for the public works project.  Obama could potentially take us even further into debt to pay for his project.  It would be refreshing if someone in the government would acknowledge that part of the reason companies and individuals are in the mess that they are in financially right now is because they carried an unhealthy amount of debt.  Yet, as a country, we have saddled ourselves with ENORMOUS debt to pay for various pet projects, socialist programs and vote buying schemes.  In fact, if you were to calculate our country’s credit score, it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 0.   If America was an individual, the phones at the Capital would be ringing off the hook with calls from collection agencies, Ari Force One would have been repossessed and the White House would be in foreclosure.  That is unacceptable.  Yet Obama could very well INCREASE the amount of debt we carry.  How is this a good idea?

There is an easy solution to avoid rasing taxes and borrowing to pay for Obama’s plan – DON”T DO IT! We don’t need to “create jobs”.  If you have to create a job, then the job is not needed.  It’s basically the same as a rich uncle giving  his idiot nephew a job to make sure that he’s got money to live on, because he’s too stupid to get a job elsewhere.  The government is basically creating jobs to make sure that their idiot nephews (those who chose to go to work in dying industries and are too dumb or lazy to try and get a job anywhere else) will have somewhere to go.  And I haven’t even looked at the vote buying aspect of this scam…er, plan.

Corporate America understands that when times are tough, you tighten the belt, make some tough choices and cut spending.  Our government doesn’t get it.  They think that they should borrow more money (this is on top of the $8.5 trillion and counting spent bailing out various companies) to try and improve the economy.  It’s absurd.

Would a smart, financially savvy individual borrow more money than they could ever payback in an attempt to improve their financial situation?  No.  Going into debt weakens your financial strength.

Obama’s public works project will weaken the US even further financially and give all our idiot cousins jobs.

YAY GOVERNEMENT!

The future of Education…

December 16, 2008 by kristian · 1 Comment
Filed under: Economy, Education

Barack put forth his selection for education secretary today, Mr. Arne Duncan, who has been in charge of (insert suprised facial expression here) Chicago Public Schools for the last seven years.  Most of the media about this guy pegs him as a ‘reformer’ who took the bull by the horns in the nations 3rd largest school system.  We’ll see.  A quick drive through the CPS website reveals a chart of dropout rates that has actually shown some positive progress in the last seven years, although the best rate that could be shown was 42%.  Yup, that’s right folks, in Chicago public schools, only 6 out of 10 students actually graduate!  I bet the intensely educated masses up there do a good job of electing politicians that will actually promote freedom and liberty and not handouts and welfare…

So now this guy is going to be in charge of the nations education policy… we’ll see how he does.  Apparently, he plays basketball (which is some sort of resume enhancement according to the press) and he went to Harvard.  He’s on a number of different non-profit boards – none with known terrorists that we know of yet – and has the blessing of our current Secretary of Education.  How about this… what does he think about lessening the Federal Government’s Power in deciding the fate of our education system?  What is his stance on providing each student with a voucher and letting their parents pick the best school?  How about school competition?  Surely, the man that went to HARVARD knows a thing or two about the value of having a diploma or degree from a school with a prestigious name and pedigree.

We see that very issue come to life around here with our local high schools.  Parents go absolutely catatonic when they hear the words “school redistricting” because their baby might not get to go to Harvard if they don’t attend the right high school.  We had such a problem a while back with some of our MIDDLE schools.  EVERY school (according to Newsweeks 2008 Top 1300 Highschools in the Nation)  that these middle schools feed into is on the list.  Walton – 109, Pope – 1118, Lassiter -435, Kell – 1195, Wheeler – 873, Sprayberry – 1178,  see the article and list here.  Yes folks, these people (who’s children will ALL go to public high schools that rank in the top 5% of the NATION) are bitching about which middle school their children will go to because some are ‘better’ than others.

All of this serves to illustrate my point.  If schools are dependent upon the performance of their students for their well-being and success, they will either get better or get gone.  Some kids may not get into the school that they want, but where is it written that we should always get what we want, much less the first time out of the box?  Challenge in a person’s life can bring about great things.  Our second ‘First Lady’ Abigail Adams had something to say about that:

“It is not in the still calm of live, or the repose of a pacific station, that great characters are formed.  The habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties.  Great necessities call out great virtues.  When a mind is raised, and animated by scenes that engage the heart, then those qualities which would otherwise lay dormant, wake into life  and form the character of the hero and the statesman.”

- Abigail Adams to her son John Quincy Adams

Let these children strive for greatness, challenge their minds, reward excellence and let the lazy fall to their place in society.

Just as an afterthought:  Anyone want to put up all the schools in Conservative areas of the county against the Liberal areas for basic academic performance?  Just think, Cobb County Georgia versus say… Chicago.  That ought to be fun.  I can’t imagine that the schools around here have 42 dropouts between them, much less 42%.  Hmmm…
